Puddock Hill Journal #72: Benign neglect in the walnut woods yields pleasant surprises.
Do deer eat walnut saplings? I have three I wish to remove from my protected backyard to the front where deer roam.
I can only infer that deer eat them as I’ve only seen them come up inside the deer fence. If moving them outside a protected area, I would cage them until they outgrow deer browse height, then loosely cage the trunk to discourage rubbing from bucks.
